Visual Risk Mapping

See Estates information on the plan

Use your existing hospital drawings to show risks, assets and compliance information room by room.

One floorplan. Different views.

Visual Risk Mapping uses the same hospital floorplan to show different types of Estates information. Select a subject and the relevant rooms, assets or risks can be highlighted on the plan.

Interactive Floorplan Example Your example SVG or screenshot can be placed here.
Rooms can change colour or display information when selected.

Water Safety

Show hot outlets, TMVs and rooms where attention may be needed.

Fire Doors

Show door locations, ratings, inspection results and defects.

Fire Dampers

Show damper locations together with inspection and maintenance information.

M&E Assets

Show plant and equipment and view useful asset information by location.

The idea is simple: instead of finding a room in a spreadsheet, find the room on the plan and see the information connected with it.

Use the information you already have

There is no need to start again. Information can come from spreadsheets, survey results, asset registers, databases or exports from existing Estates systems.

Your Drawings

Existing hospital floorplans can be prepared for room-by-room interaction.

Your Data

Existing Estates and compliance information can be matched to rooms and assets.

A Visual View

The information can then be viewed directly against the part of the building it relates to.

Your existing systems can stay in place. Visual Risk Mapping can provide an additional visual way of viewing the information.

What could it be used for?

The same floorplan can potentially be used for many different Estates subjects.

Water Safety

Temperatures, TMVs, monitoring results and scalding risks.

Fire Safety

Fire doors, fire dampers, inspection results and outstanding work.

Asset Information

Mechanical and electrical equipment, condition and maintenance information.

Survey Results

Show findings directly against rooms, departments and areas.

Risk Information

Use simple colours to make higher-risk areas easier to identify.

Other Estates Data

Where information has a room, asset or location reference, there may be an opportunity to map it.

How it can start

A project does not have to begin with a whole hospital.

1

Choose an area

Start with one floor, department or building.

2

Choose the information

For example, water safety, fire doors or an existing asset register.

3

See it on the plan

Create a working example using the Trust's own drawings and information.

Start with a small pilot

A single floor or department can be used to demonstrate the idea before considering a wider project. This gives Estates teams an opportunity to see Visual Risk Mapping working with their own information.

If you have suitable floorplans and Estates information, Graham Stephens & Partners can explore how they could be brought together as a simple visual demonstration.
