DEVELOPMENT OF ESTATES EMERGENCY MANUALS
We have
considerable experience of preparing site specific Estates Emergency
Manuals is accordance with Health Technical Memorandum (HTM 2070) which
includes over 30 Emergencies/Incidents.
In 1996 we produced a framework Estates Emergency Manual for in-house
customisation which was adopted by more than 100 No. NHS Hospital Estates
Departments.
At that
time we also customised EEMs for a large number of Hospitals. We are
currently in the process of completing customised manuals for St. Mary's
Hospital. Charing Cross Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital, which form
the Imperial Healthcare Trust. These manuals are all based on (HTM 2070).
The Civil
Contingencies Act CCA 2000 requires emergency procedures for NHS Estates
Departments, as does the Care Quality Commission (CQC Outcome 10 - Safety
and Suitability of Premises) but no template has been produced by the
authorities and until guidance is available our manuals will be based
on (HTM 2070) with enhancements.
Preparing
a site specific Estates Emergency Manual without a template will be
prohibitively expensive and very difficult to achieve.
